Cambodia:Getting more Urban

Source: Phnom Penh Post
"While Cambodia remains a largely rural country, many people live in cities, according to preliminary results from the first general census in a decade. The percentage of the population in urban areas in Cambodia stands at 19.4 percent. The projected annual growth rate in 2010 is expected to be 1.54 percent, still higher than that of East Asia, which stands at 1.3 percent.
The provisional figures at the national level indicate that the total fertility rate and growth rate of the population has slowed down as predicted due to rising prosperity and improved female literacy acting to reduce birth rates. The final 2008 census results are expected to be available mid-2009."
