Here u guys might be interested in this. It is a comment from my beloved momy-like friend, Natto-san. C is not able to post the comment here, so i will do on her behalf:
Fr Natto: The church is San Agustin Church. it's the oldest church founded by the spaniards 50 years after they first set foot in the philippines in 1521. if you went inside, you should have seen the tomb of Miguel Lopez de Legaspi, who is a famous spanish conquistador, who was the first governor and captain general of the philippines when our country became the capital of spanish indies. so, you've been part of our history by visiting that church ne?
more importantly, that church is also the venue of the weddings of the rich and respectable people. i think it's the most expensive one in our country at like P25,000-30000 if I'm not mistaken. it takes at least one year to reserve a wedding there. the door as your background is very intricately designed.
the pic with the stairs is Barbara's, one of the illustrious restaurants usually for wedding receptions or despedida de soltera, a farewell party for a bachelorette who's going to marry soon.
there is also the manila cathedral, where, some joke, marriages tend to lead to divorce because some famous actors and actresses married there divorced.
aside from barbara's (did you go inside?), there are many spanish houses-turned-into-restaurants like Ilustrado, which is famous for sampaguita (a flower) ice cream, are around the area, as well as gardens for wedding receptions.
intramuros is actually a very interesting place even for us. some couples go there during sunset and walk on top of the walls which are really thick. the name itself means "within the walls." intramuros was manila itself during the spanish colonization. it's also a place where our national hero was imprisoned before his execution. so many tortures during the spanish and american colonization happened there, sadly.
